Transfer from Naples to Amalfi Coast and enjoy trip of a lifetime

The Amalfi Coast, located in the Southern part of Italy, is one of the country’s prime vacation destinations. With its beautiful scenery and historic landmarks, the Coast is a truly unmissable stop for anyone traveling in Italy. As an added bonus, the area is located just south of Naples, making a transfer from Naples to the Amalfi Coast a snap. Depending on personal preference (and on the season), visitors can travel by car, ferry, or train.

Transfer from Naples to the Amalfi Coast By Car

One of the ways to transfer from Naples to the Amalfi Coast is by car, and the first main city that you’ll reach if traveling this way is Positano. While the actual distance between the two cities is only about 20 miles, the drive may be slow, depending on traffic. Some travelers clock the trip to be approximately an hour, while others who’ve been stuck in traffic have noted that it can take up to three hours to transfer from Naples to the Amalfi Coast. Generally, the traffic is worst in June and July, so if you plan to drive, it might be best to do so in the off-season.

Transfer from Naples to the Amalfi Coast By Ferry

There are also ferries running in the summer months, which offer another way to transfer from Naples to the Amalfi Coast. The ferry will depart directly from the port in Naples, and if you plan to stop in several cities along the Coast, it is also possible to catch a ferry in Salerno, Sorrento, and Capri. Generally, the ferries run from April through October, weather permitting, but the actual times of arrival and departure vary considerably. To make sure the ferry schedule will work with your travel plans, it’s best to call a day or two in advance to check the departure and arrival times.

Transfer from Naples to the Amalfi Coast By Train

Another way to transfer from Naples to the Amalfi Coast is by taking the train. There is a station in the center of Naples that will take passengers directly to Vietri sul Mar, the main train station on the coast, which is located in Salerno. If you are planning to go on to Positano or Pompeii, you can also take the train into Salerno and connect to the “circumvesuviani,” which travels between all of the cities on the Coast itself.

Shuttles and Taxis

Those who are flying into Italy from another location, and who might be looking for a way to transfer from the Naples airport to Positano, can rest assured that they will be able to find any number of shuttles or taxis to take them to their destination. Because the coast is itself only about 25 miles long, making any sort of transfer from Naples to the Amalfi Coast, whether it is from the airport or from a hotel, should not prove to be a major challenge.

The location of the Amalfi Coast makes it a great option for a day trip for anyone staying in Naples. For those who want to stay a bit longer after making the transfer from Naples to the Amalfi Coast, however, there is also plenty to do in Pompeii, Ravello, Sorrento, Positano, and Salerno—enough to stay busy for days.
